Turning Days into Minutes: Forge Design Automation at Scale
With the release of Design Automation for Inventor on Forge, it's possible to leverage the scale of the Forge platform not only saving money but also removing the bottleneck of processing automated workflows. You can now automate jobs in parallel and only pay for the processing time used. In this talk we'll go over a number of customer success stories in moving automation from on-premise Inventor servers to our cloud-enabled, scalable Forge service reducing time to process from days down to minutes, imparting a competitive advantage. "In this class you will learn how to provide your application engineers, sales team, and even customers with a rich, 3D, graphically interactive, guided, design automation solution using Autodesk Forge Design Automation API together with Knowledge Bridge. Knowledge Bridge is a cloud-based, advanced configuration and engineering automation solution. Using Knowledge Bridge together with Forge, you can build your own custom solution guided selling experience that includes graphical selection, drag-and-drop, and advanced rendering using super-fast web-based graphics. These UI’s are constrained by and drive engineering selection, configuration and design rules that automate both pre and post-sales engineering process to create quotes, models, drawings, BOMs, and other engineering related reports. All this can be achieved without programming. And the structure is such that it can support even the most complex products. We’ll also show several examples of previous successful projects."

AutoCAD DWG™ files are widely used in many industries today, and Forge Platform provides REST APIs to unlock the data inside them, or to create new ones. This class will show you how to securely connect Forge Platform to various data-storage services where your DWG files reside. We will demonstrate how to access a database while processing a DWG file, a critical piece for many customers who have embed database keys in their DWG files. This session features Forge and AutoCAD. Using Forge in the Furniture Industry
This presentation will cover the transformation of the business model of imos AG. imos AG started as a CAD/CAM software developer specialising in the furniture and woodworking industries. Today their approach is to cover the whole value chain from point of sale through to production, where web based technology is used to integrate the consumer into the information management. After introducing the specific requirements of the furniture market and the software solutions that imos AG has developed, the presentation will concentrate on the usage of Autodesk technology. The first products imos AG developed were on AutoCAD or AutoCAD OEM. Then imos AG developed their own web based technology. Today Forge is used inside a web based product configuration software. The plan is to integrate Forge into more products. The final part of the presentation will cover two customer examples where Forge technology is used to enable the information flow between consumer experience and production control.

Manufacturing Informed Design API On Autodesk Forge

Today, building design decisions are not informed by what can be made. Construction processes are iterative, manual, slow, and reactive, with high risk and uncertainty. Data and tools are disconnected and don’t allow processes to work at scale. In this session, we'll go over our Manufacturing Informed Design project. We’ll examine how it brings together our portfolio to inform the design process as early as possible, and we’ll look at how the Autodesk Forge API we’re developing for this will enable our customers and partners to extend our solution. The Manufacturing Informed Design API will be a simple way for customers to 1) publish product templates from Inventor software into Autodesk Construction Cloud or Fusion Team, 2) discover those product templates via the API or Revit, and 3) customize and insert variants from a simple API. We’ll also cover how we’re extending the Autodesk Forge Viewer for simple low- or no-code configuration workflows.

Virtual Design Collaboration Using Arkio and Forge
Arkio is a design tool used to bring your ideas and conceptual building designs to life inside virtual reality (VR). VR lets you immerse yourself in the creative process by freely walking around your design or stretching a wall with simple hand gestures. In this class, we will take a deep dive into the Forge Design Automation for Revit API to show how users can easily load their latest BIM 360 Revit models into VR and make design changes that are pushed back to Revit and BIM 360 in a collaborative way. We will demonstrate the following: loading Revit models via BIM 360 and the Design Automation API into Arkio; performing live collaborative design inside Arkio on top of existing Revit models using mobile VR headsets, tablets, and phones; loading and working with additional data such as program area requirements; and exporting new design ideas as native Revit masses/families via the Revit Design Automation API.

Campus and City Rapid-Energy Modeling and Data-Driven Forge Dashboard
Federal, state, local, and city governments are setting ambitious targets for reducing energy consumption of existing buildings through building retrofits. A challenge has been the scaling of energy analysis across large building portfolios in order to identify and prioritize the buildings and retrofit measures. Prior methods were limited to single buildings, but this session will introduce new capabilities that enable evaluation of entire building portfolios with minimal data inputs required. Results are presented dynamically in the context of a digital model and a custom Forge-based building portfolio management dashboard that serves as an executive summary for users or consumers of the rapid energy modeling (REM) tools, and enables easier communication and understanding of the workflow and results with clients. The session is intended for owners and managers, including the Department of Defense (DoD); federal, state, and local government; airports; higher education; architectural firms; and planning entities.

Introduction to BIM 360 Docs API
In this class, we will introduce you to BIM 360 Docs software’s API. BIM 360 Docs software is a cloud-based document management system tailored specifically for construction projects. As the document at the center of BIM 360 family products, BIM 360 Docs software promises to play an important role for unified development of the BIM 360 mobile and web platform. BIM 360 Docs software provides an API as a part of the Forge Platform Data Management API. Using the Forge Platform API, you can access documents stored in BIM 360 Docs software, display models using the Viewing API, and search data in the model. Using the API, for example, you can automate updating models from external applications, make a report to keep track of a team’s progress, and connect your own web services applications with BIM 360 Docs projects. We will show you how to get started with the BIM 360 Docs API, share examples of use cases, and demonstrate what you can do using the BIM 360 Docs API. This session features BIM 360 Docs and Forge. This class will describe Goldbeck's experience in the development of their very own cloud services for the automation of model checking. Goldbeck's BIM (Building Information Modeling) department is cooperating with Autodesk in the definition and creation of a framework for automating the execution of standard checks. The project aims at capitalizing on cloud computing to increase the overall quality level and free up resources for other tasks.

Using iLogic with Design Automation for Inventor to Create a Configurator
Design Automation for Inventor software generally enables the desktop APIs to be used in the cloud—similar to how they would work on the desktop, but without the need of any installed software or dependent licenses. An additional, easily overlooked advantage of Design Automation for Inventor is its capability to run iLogic scripts in the cloud. These scripts being embedded in the CAD file itself can be programmed to auto execute under certain conditions. This class will address taking advantage of this capability to combine the Forge Design Automation API with iLogic to create a configurator by modifying an input Inventor file (IPT) in the cloud, according to the inputs provided by the user on an easy-to-use user interface. The results can be viewed immediately on a web browser using the Forge Viewer API, and are available for download in multiple formats such as IPT, IDW, and PDF. This web application sample uses the latest web technologies and is OS independent and mobile-device friendly.
