The Water Authority Drents Overijsselse Delta has made some changes to cope with this challenge. To create an accessible environment, it plots its assets on geographic information system (GIS) layers using ArcGIS GeoBIM. Additionally, the Water Authority wants to ensure that all its existing and new assets are being monitored correctly and are reliable according to national and organizational requirements. To achieve this goal, it's using the power of Autodesk Construction Cloud in combination with Cadac Control and Model Coordination.

See how Model Coordination was used on the Portland International Airport (PDX) to coordinate design partners, trade partners, and general contractor as-built scans. This class will discuss the philosophy of our use, and the setup and maintenance process, as well as lessons learned along the way. The project joined Autodesk Cloud Services in January 2019 in order to handle the sheer number of team members and data that needed to be coordinated across all teams. The decision to use Model Coordination was heavily targeted toward the leadership group for both design and owner. These folks are not Revit users but are integral to the design process and direction. This platform allowed them to see the design as it developed and offered a unique lens previously unavailable. It also gave them the freedom to explore the design and investigate areas of the building with ease. The platform was used very effectively in regular coordination meetings, client meetings, and client-driven meetings.

Arkio is a design tool used to bring your ideas and conceptual building designs to life inside virtual reality (VR). VR lets you immerse yourself in the creative process by freely walking around your design or stretching a wall with simple hand gestures. In this class, we will take a deep dive into the Forge Design Automation for Revit API to show how users can easily load their latest BIM 360 Revit models into VR and make design changes that are pushed back to Revit and BIM 360 in a collaborative way. We will demonstrate the following: loading Revit models via BIM 360 and the Design Automation API into Arkio; performing live collaborative design inside Arkio on top of existing Revit models using mobile VR headsets, tablets, and phones; loading and working with additional data such as program area requirements; and exporting new design ideas as native Revit masses/families via the Revit Design Automation API.

This class is designed for project management (PM) team in terms of managing the project during the design as well as construction phase, which is enhanced by BIM 360 software. Along with the intelligent models that are being developed widely in the construction industry today, design collaboration and coordination is one of the challenges for the PM team, especially projects with many designers in different locations. Managing several kinds of documents in the construction phase—such as RFI, submittals, inspections, reports, and so on—is also challenging the PM team without standardization and response-in-time procedure. However, all those challenges can be minimized. With BIM 360 and project case studies, this class will provide the method to set up BIM 360 as a common data environment for design collaboration and coordination using a couple of BIM 360 features and a customized workflow. Moreover, a digital procedure in this class with BIM 360 Build software will help a PM team in the standardizing and digitizing of site workflow on RFIs, transmittals management, site inspection, safety, QA and QC, reports and more.

There are numerous unique challenges involved in managing a large model environment, and there's a scarcity of documented workflows or solutions to tackle them. This presentation will discuss the issues encountered while managing the Revit models for MEP systems of a new 1.3 million-square-foot hospital, and the innovative solutions that were implemented. Using tools such as Ideate, Clarity, BIM Interoperability Checker, BIM 360 Model Coordination, and others, a powerful BIM 360 model environment was established that was capable of handling the vast amount of data and elements required to document the hospital. This presentation will not present a definitive solution, but rather a foundation for generating additional ideas and workflows for future large projects.

This case study explores how digital transformation happens, starting from the traditional design process and moving to Autodesk Construction Cloud using building information modeling (BIM) tools. It also identifies challenges, the importance of education and training, and the short-term and long-term benefits. The major challenge is the lack of capacity and capability, lack of a common platform, absence of standardization, inconsistencies in workflow and processes, and loss of information. We initiated the transformation by redefining the workflow processes, bringing Autodesk Construction Cloud, standardizing design language and deliverables, creating libraries, and training. This increased adaptation, leading to an increase in efficiency of model development, peer review, design collaboration, design management, and approval by all stakeholders. We were also able to define roles and responsibilities, ensure version control across all stakeholders, and review clash detection, thus improving on-time efficiency, accuracy, and quality of the deliverables by sharing information and collaborating.
