This class is designed to assist you in building a new workflow to utilize Vault software for managing company standards within your organization. It will cover how to set up custom file categories, file lifecycles, user groups to support an innovative way of managing company standards within Vault, along with tracking any changes. Some consider AutoLISP, like Latin, to be a "dead" language. Nothing could be further from the truth! AutoLISP is an API built into AutoCAD software that's highly accessible, easy to write, and easy to debug. It provides comprehensive access to the underlying AutoCAD engine, allowing you to create new commands that can automate many tasks and change the way you interact with the program on a daily basis. We will demonstrate how to write a series of small, useful programming examples that provide examples of solid coding techniques—combined with unique, purpose-driven functionality for production drafting and design—which you can build upon after the session into larger and more complex routines. Even with little programming experience, participants will gain a wealth of knowledge about how to use the AutoLISP API to automate daily tasks, and how to use AutoCAD and its associated applications to increase productivity.

One AutoCAD software became available to AutoCAD subscription customers when AutoCAD 2019 software became available in March 2018. AutoCAD subscription customers can now work faster with specialized AutoCAD toolsets, which include industry-specific features and libraries for architecture, mechanical design, electrical design, and more. A subscription to One AutoCAD enables automation of floor plans, sections, elevations, and other drawings; accurate design of piping, plumbing, and ducting for faster design with mechanical tools; and design of ductwork, electrical conduit, and circuiting for HVAC, plumbing, and electrical with MEP. Shaun Bryant, AutoCAD guru and AutoCAD Influencer, will take you through the benefits of the One AutoCAD subscription, demonstrating how to utilize the toolsets and make them available to your AutoCAD design team, regardless of discipline and industry.

Have you experienced any of these issues with AutoCAD products: slow opening of drawings, crashing, pausing within AutoCAD, and slow plotting? Clients, sub-consultants, and approving agencies often have DWG™ files that get corrupted. This can cause loss of work and missed deadlines. Drawing corruption can range from small annoying issues to being unable to open or print files. This corruption can affect your files and spread across your projects rapidly. In this session, we will explore methodologies and workflows to prevent files from getting corrupted due to internal and external factors. We will review 7 things that cause drawing slowness, and we’ll show how to repair the drawings.

A common workflow issue is managing drawings with CAD standards issues: blocks on the wrong layer, text with the wrong style or size, and so on. But taking the time to fix these issues can be a daunting process. In this lab, we will walk through several tools that AutoCAD software offers to speed up this process. You will also learn techniques to make your drawings open faster, have smaller file sizes, and reduce crashing. This is a crucial part of your day-to-day workflow!

Most AutoCAD users have either taken an AutoCAD course or have been trained by existing users within their business. Very rarely do they get to explore some of the tools that aren’t standard. This session will address those “I wish I knew that” statements. This fast-paced class will introduce users to 45 important tips and tricks that can be achieved across “vanilla” AutoCAD software. We’ll categorize the tips across each area of AutoCAD, from navigation through to output—including Render, Creation, and Modify. The session will have a question-and-answer session at the end where the audience will be able to ask any questions that arise from the session.

AutoCAD Plant 3D has quickly become a premier solution for piping design in the plant community. For a complete plant project deliverable, we need to understand the best practices in being interoperable with additional Autodesk® products. While some of these products,such as AutoCAD® Revit® Structure and Autodesk® Navisworks® software, exist in Autodesk® Plant Design Suite, there is also a need outside of the suite to create mechanical, HVAC, and electrical models. This class will focus on how to bring all of these premier Autodesk applications together for a complete interoperable plant project that greatly enhances overall coordination.

The evolution of Revit software for engineering, modeling, and design is having a major impact on the MEP design process. Autodesk continues to add new features, but bells and whistles are not the only things a user needs to understand. Taking advantage of key workflows can help you get more from your Revit tools than ever before. This hands-on lab will begin with an overview of the electrical improvements to help represent a more accurate design, and then we’ll move into new elevation features that affect all disciplines. Next, we’ll take a look at ways to improve your engineering analysis results, and we’ll close with new ways to move your schematic designs from AutoCAD software to Revit. Shore up some weak areas in your everyday work by learning how to use these tools and get more from BIM!

When you have a complex project where Building Information Modeling (BIM) coordination is absolutely necessary, and you add to the equation that design consultants and all of the subcontractors have no BIM experience . . . you are in a challenging position. The intention of this class is to give you an idea of the implemented BIM workflow in a temple project located in Argentina (South America), where BIM use is not developed yet in this region. However, the proposed implemented workflow (single-source work-share partner) is applicable to many other situations, even in advanced BIM markets. We will share this experience and discuss pros and cons of the approach, results achieved, and proposed next steps. We’ll go all the way from Revit software design models, to coordination with Navisworks software and Autodesk 360 cloud-computing platform, to fabrication models with AutoCAD MEP software versus Revit software and shop drawings generation, to approval process. A complete workflow analysis from start to finish.
